The Maryland Coalition of Advocates for the
Retarded (MCAR). MCAR is a new organization, consisting of Parents,
family members, guardians, mentally disabled citizens and friends of
the mentally disabled. MCAR is a statewide organization with
approximately 500 members. We have members from most legislative
districts throughout Maryland.
MCAR's Mission is to serve as advocates for
all Maryland citizens with mental retardation and to advocate for
freedom of choice when selecting quality care and services.
MCAR's Goals are to interact with: Consumers,
families, friends and other advocates; care providers; state
agencies; elected officials and the public.
